Keeping busy

So we now live here...

And we have been enjoying pizzas on a Monday here...

(This picture was taken by Brett! It is meant to show the hot Italian, Sergio making his wonderful pizzas... This photo does not do the place, man or pizza justice. I will have to return next week and order more pizza.

And just a short walk away we have been hanging by the pool at Mango Rosa

(testing out my hand made bikini here)

All in all, our new place is awesome!

We enjoyed our trip to Managua mainly because I got to shove a large Big Mac in my face and we found a bloody brilliant TK Max type shop that we spent a leisurely hour or two perusing but we have been told that the best bargains are in Masaya and so I have added a trip to the markets of Masaya on our list of things to do.

Brett has been keeping busy with designs for the house...

This shows the floor plans, how the house will look and a model, made from earbuds, of the roof complete with an earbud stick man!

And I have been playing with my brand new sewing machine and crocheting some more with plastic bags...

I am rather pleased with both our constructive and creative 'makes'...

A little progress

We are all booked to move to Vince's place next Thursday. His cabanas are a little out of town, a little tucked away in a scary forest type wood but closer to our land. They are also close to the Pacific Bay Hotel that now does an 'all you can eat' pasta night and Vince has an onsite pizza restaurant that only opens twice a week and is fully booked every time... So I think I will survive in our new surroundings!!

We enjoyed our meeting with Austin and his wife Michelle to discuss our house plans further. We have since been searching the internet for doors, windows, flooring, etc that we like. I have fallen in love with this Glitter floor;

but my 'ever so practical' man has reined in my crazy girly wants and we have agreed on a floor similar to this one;

with perhaps a little colourful tile, china piece, sequin and or glitter squeezed in between. With such a wide variety of amazing ideas to search through, think about and then convince the man about, I became a little overwhelmed and had to step away from all the 'Home Ideas' pintrest's and lie down.

After my 'moment' I relaxed back into my new crochet project...

It's not hard to notice the huge abundance of plastic bags here in Nicaragua. They are used in every shop, every market, every home and every bin and as a consequence there is also a shit load laying around as litter. I got to thinking about how they could be recycled and I found that you can only bloody use them to knit and crochet with!!! Here is my work so far...

A sunglasses case...

and a bag...

I plan to make a few more and see if anyone is interested. Despite the fact that the bag nearly blew away today in the wind, I love it and will be using it regularly to carry all my light weight goods!!

We are off to Managua tomorrow to see what treats they have to offer...

Slow and simple

Monday 18th February 2013- Officially purchased and handed over money for the land and then enjoyed Tona and Flor de Cana with our new, awesome neighbours until we couldn't feel our toes!

After taking the majority of the day to recover we were then kindly chauffeured around a couple of amazing Eco builds by a rather talented American named Austin - check out the website...  Casa de Tierra

The houses we were shown (including this one) were incredible and we have arranged to meet again to discuss designs, plans and cost. I really like the idea of building this way and we can be as hands on with the construction as we like.

Wednesday 19th February - My old friend Sally Parker arrived in San Juan Del Sur to check out things. This meant that housie plans were put a little on hold but it was bloody lovely having her around.

We enjoyed an evening out here, Music festival

Sally went for a horse ride here; Ranchochilamate  (you can find them on facebook) and bloody loved it.

We hitched a ride to go and show off our land to Sally,

And just hung out,

It's not a bad life here in SJDS!!
